An afternoon of professional learning for primary science subject leaders

Are you new to science leadership, or experienced and looking for fresh ideas?

Join the Primary Science Teaching Trust for a half-day CPD event designed to support primary science leaders in reflecting on priorities, sharing ideas and exploring practical approaches to science leadership in 2026.

The afternoon will include an inspiring keynote, followed by a choice of professional development workshops focused on assessment, misconceptions, collaboration and practical science approaches. Attendees will also receive resources and freebies to take back to school.

  • Teacher Assessment in Primary Science (TAPS) A practical introductory session exploring approaches to assessing primary science skills and understanding.
  • Practical approaches to science misconceptions Explore hands-on activities designed to help identify and address common misconceptions in primary science.

15:00 Session 2 workshop options:

  • Playdough science Discover hands-on science activities using playdough to support observation, discussion and the development of scientific vocabulary.
  • Tools for Primary Science Learning Communities (PSLCs) A valuable session for science leaders already working collaboratively with others, or those interested in developing Primary Science Learning Communities.
