Early Years Science Online Course

Develop effective science provision for early years (ages 3 – 5)

Give your youngest learners the best start in science with this new interactive one-day course, delivered online over two half-day sessions. Designed for early years teachers at any stage of their career and for science leaders, the course will help you recognise, plan for and assess science within your setting.

Alongside practical strategies and guidance, you’ll benefit from a supportive, confidential environment where you can ask questions and share experiences with others.

By the end of this course, you will have developed:

  • confidence in identifying the science in your early years’ curriculum/framework
  • understanding of how to plan and implement effective provision
  • knowledge of resources and strategies to support assessment

 

Course structure

The course will focus on exemplifying effective science provision, assessment in early years provision, understanding the expectations of your curriculum/framework for teaching science and resourcing your science teaching and learning.

  • Session 1: 14 January 2026, 13:00-15:30
  • Gap task: apply learning between sessions
  • Session 2: 5 February 2026, 13:00–15:30
