Primary Science Teaching Trust Events: Terms & Conditions and Data Processing Notice
- Introduction
By registering for our event, you (the attendee or ticket holder) are entering into an agreement with the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT, “we”), whose registered office is at DeskLodge Beacon Tower, Colston Street, Bristol, BS1 4XE on the basis of the following terms and conditions.
- Booking and confirmation
- We organise event registration through Beacon CRM and/or Eventbrite.
- You are responsible for making sure that all information is correct before booking your tickets.
- Once you have booked your tickets, an order confirmation and/or e-ticket will be sent from Beacon CRM or Eventbrite to the email address you provide.
- If you are organising tickets on behalf of another attendee, you have a responsibility to ensure all such attendees attending the event understand these terms and conditions.
- Cancellations and programme changes
- We reserve the right to change, alter or cancel any part or aspect of the event before it takes place. We will attempt to notify you by email of any significant changes, alterations or cancellations in advance; it is important, therefore, that you supply up-to-date email addresses for each attendee and notify us of any changes.
- We will not be liable in any way for any issues arising from any cancellation or change.
- If you cancel your participation at a paid event, we cannot offer a refund unless:
- we have specified elsewhere that such refunds are available, or
- exceptional circumstances apply (please email [email protected] if this is the case).
- Filming and photography
- We reserve the right to record or photograph all or part of any event, and may make such recordings or photographs available publicly.
- If we are recording an online event, you will be notified at the start of the session and given the opportunity to turn off your video and make yourself anonymous.
- If we are recording an in-person event and you do not wish to be filmed or photographed, please let a PSTT representative know at the start of the event.
- Limitation of liability
We accept no liability to you (whether in contract, tort (including negligence), statutory duty or otherwise) and we are not responsible or liable to you to any greater extent, nor will be liable to you for any financial loss that you may incur as a consequence of the use of our website, or the supply, use or non-use of tickets.
- Revision of terms and conditions
We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time by amending them on www.pstt.org.uk.
- Programme content
- The views expressed by any speakers at the event are their own. We are not liable for the views, acts or omissions or any such speaker or any other attendee at the event.
- Any practical science activities shared in our events have been risk assessed using guidance provided by CLEAPSS or SSERC. If you plan to repeat any of these activities in the classroom, you must consult the risk assessment advice provided by your employer and adjust it to suit the needs of your class. If you are based in the UK, it is likely that your employer has identified CLEAPSS (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or SSERC (Scotland) as the source of health and safety advice they want you to follow:

www.sserc.org.uk | [email protected] | 01383 626 070
If you do not know who provides your school with health and safety advice, ask your headteacher, employer or business manager.
It is your employer’s responsibility to provide you with suitable advice and training so that you can manage any risks arising in your lessons appropriately.
- Conduct at events
You are responsible for your interaction with other event attendees. While in attendance at the event, you agree:
- To act responsibly and exercise caution, common sense and safety
- To behave in a courteous and respectful manner towards other attendees and the organisers, and to respect the viewpoints of others
- To refrain from improper language, conduct or behaviour, including harassment, sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying or threatening behaviour, exclusionary behaviour, or discrimination against others on any grounds
- Compliance
We reserve the right to refuse you entry to the event, or subsequently remove you from the event, if you fail to comply with these terms and conditions.
By registering for a PSTT event, you confirm that you understand and agree with the following notice.
- How and why we process your data
In order for you to take part in our event, the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT) requires you to provide certain personal information. This may include:
- Name
- Job title
- Email address and, optionally, phone number (these may be either your personal or work details)
We may also ask you to provide non-personal information about your school/organisation. Your personal information and the school/organisation information will be linked in our database.
We will use the information that you provide to contact you about the event you have registered for and to administer the event itself. In addition, Beacon CRM or Eventbrite may use your personal data for the sole purpose of administering your booking.
We may share your contact information with other PSTT staff members, including the PSTT staff member(s) assigned to organise the event, and administrative and finance staff as required. In some cases we may also contact you to ask for your feedback on the event; we may do this up to 2 years after the event has concluded, in order to understand the impact of our work. We consider this to be in PSTT’s legitimate interests for the purposes of GDPR legislation. We will use your feedback to help inform how we continue to develop and improve PSTT’s events.
Unless you ask us to delete your personal data, we may retain it indefinitely but only for statistical and research purposes. This is to enable us to understand how teachers and schools/organisations use the events, activities and services we provide over a longer period, and to analyse which schools are working with us (e.g. in relation to geography or government data). We will anonymise such data when using it in reports or other documents.
If you consent separately to us doing so, we may also use your data to:
- Send you PSTT resources and/or information about our other events, activities and services
- Attribute your feedback on PSTT events to you personally
The data about you (and your school/organisation if applicable) will be stored securely, on Microsoft SharePoint servers and/or on Beacon CRM or Eventbrite. Data is protected by password and security systems, and its access is restricted to employees who require it for the purposes of organising or administering PSTT activities.
We will not share your or your school/organisation’s information with other organisations, or share the feedback you have provided on the event, unless you explicitly consent to this; or to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation in response to a request from a government or state body; or when other companies and individuals perform functions on our behalf. Such companies and individuals may include trusted online platforms such as Eventbrite (to book events) and MailChimp (to send emails), as well as third party contractors delivering events, services or activities on PSTT’s behalf.
We will delete your personal data on your request at any time, but we reserve the right to retain your details if we need this to complete our work with you (for example, if you have registered for a chargeable event and your attendance fee is outstanding).
- Access to your information and correction
We have in place appropriate security policies that are intended to ensure, as far as reasonably possible, the security and integrity of all our information, including your personal information.
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email [email protected] or write to us at the address found at the bottom of this page. We may charge a fee for this service.
We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.
