A free award supporting teachers in the early stages of their career to develop their primary science practice.
The Primary Science Enhancement Award (PSEA) supports Early Career Teachers and classroom teachers in their first five years of teaching to develop their experience, knowledge and confidence in teaching primary science. Participants complete the award through PSTT's ECT Plus programme, with support from a dedicated e-tutor throughout.
The PSEA has three stages:
Participants reflect on their strengths, identify areas for development in teaching primary science and set individual targets with support from their tutor.
Participants complete three core activities and choose three additional activities based on their interests and development needs.
Participants review their progress and reflect on their learning and achievements.
Award activities
The three core activities introduce participants to primary science resources, research and practice. These include:
Participants also choose three additional activities. These may include developing subject knowledge, trying a TAPS assessment activity, observing science teaching, leading an extracurricular science activity or engaging with science education research, events or professional networks.
Support is provided by an e-tutor to help participants select activities appropriate to their development and setting.
