Celebrating this year’s Primary Science Enhancement Award recipients

Congratulations to 123 trainee teachers and early career teachers (ECTs) who completed the Primary Science Enhancement Award (PSEA) during the 2025-26 academic year.

This year, 120 trainee teachers from 24 Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers across the UK received the award, with a further three participants completing the PSEA through our growing remote routes.

The PSEA is a structured programme that supports trainee teachers to build their confidence, knowledge and practice in teaching primary science. Running across the academic year, it provides opportunities to develop experience of primary science, reflect on classroom practice and learn from experienced educators.

The scheme is supported by the Association for Science Education, the Primary Science Quality Mark and The Ogden Trust.

We would like to congratulate everyone who completed the PSEA this year, as well as the ITE providers, tutors and educators who supported them along the way.

Take part in the PSEA in 2026-27

The PSEA continues for the 2026-27 academic year, with opportunities for ITE providers, trainee teachers and teachers in the early stages of their careers.

ITE providers can offer the PSEA as part of their provision, supporting trainee teachers to develop their confidence, knowledge and practice in primary science.

Trainee teachers whose ITE provider does not currently offer the PSEA can take part remotely, with support from a dedicated e-tutor. Early Career Teachers and classroom teachers in their first five years of teaching can work towards the award through PSTT’s ECT Plus programme.
