  • South West London

    A large group of ten schools who have been brought together by College Fellow, Alex Farrer, to form a new collaboration.

  • South Hams Cluster

    A group of five schools who are all part of the South Hams Federation, under the coordination of PSTT Fellow, Katharine Pemberton.

  • Thanet Cluster

    Building upon strong relationships that existed between these six schools, a successful application has formalised their collaboration into a PSTT Science Cluster.

  • Manchester Cluster

    PSTT College Fellow Liane Clegg, has drawn seven of these schools together to form a Science cluster.

  • Hull Cluster

    This is a large cluster that has a wide range of educational settings. All ten members are part of the Venn Academy Trust.

  • Great Hockham Cluster

    All 10 schools in this group are part of the Sapentia Education Trust (SET). Established in 2016 and overseen by PSTT Fellow, Claire Seeley.

  • Conwy Cluster

    With close working relationships in several subjects and initiatives, it was a natural step for these six schools to extend their work together and form a Science Cluster.

  • Uckfield Satellite Cluster

    Following the success of the original PSTT Cluster established in the Uckfield area, the schools in the locality and the PSTT Fellow have worked in conjunction with the WEALD EIP to form a Satellite Cluster.

  • Suffolk Cluster

    Formed by the PSTT Regional Mentor for East Anglia who oversees the group, this cluster consists of 6 schools all from rural localities.

  • Blackburn and Darwen Cluster

    Formed by the PSTT Northwest Area Mentor with a group of schools that originated from an active Ogden Trust Partnership, the Blackburn and Darwen Cluster is made up of 4 members with 2 more pending.

  • South Milford Cluster

    Founded upon the existing relationships within the newly formed Star Multi Academy Trust, the nine schools involved with PSTT aim to further their work through setting up a science cluster.

  • Sandwell Cluster

    Existing links between these four Sandwell Local Authority schools, particularly between the Headteachers, form the foundation of this Cluster.

  • Oxford Cluster

    The five village schools are part of a local partnership (WOSP – West Oxford Schools Partnership) and have worked together for over six years.

  • North Shields Cluster

    The original core of four schools have historic and beneficial relationships on which to expand their work in science.

  • Mid Ulster Cluster

    The original five schools have a supportive and proactive history. Through the programme, the group have included four additional schools to form a PSTT Cluster.

  • Mersea Island Cluster

    The Network Group, which is to become our Science Cluster, is derived from the long-standing Tiptree and Stanway Consortium that has been working together for 25 years.

  • Isle of Wight Cluster

    Drawing together nine schools from different parts of the Isle of Wight, the programme will establish a science cluster.

  • Bolton Cluster

    The Bolton Cluster is a network involving nine schools.

  • Uckfield Cluster

    A large group consisting of 9 schools, many of which had been working closely together through their participation in the Uckfield Schools Alliance and the Wealden EIP.

  • North Tyneside Cluster

    A group of eight schools who are all part of the North Tyneside Learning Trust (a network of over 40 schools), joined together under the coordination of PSTT Fellow, Anna Hammill to become a PSTT Cluster.

  • Leeds Cluster

    Establishing a PSTT Cluster, currently of eight schools, seemed a natural and desired next step, initiated and lead by Kathryn Horan, PSTT Fellow.

  • Irchester Cluster

    PSTT Fellow, Tracy Tyrrell successful applied to the Cluster Programme. The group has subsequently established itself as a cluster of six schools funded by the PSTT Cluster Programme.

  • Christchurch Cluster

    Originally 9 schools, the group has grown to include an additional member, Mudeford Infant Community school.

  • Southbourne Cluster

    Following a successful PSTT conference / INSET day involving all 110 teachers who attended four workshops, this cluster was formed in 2017.

  • Sherborne Cluster

    Through the support of Katrina Halford, a PSTT College Fellow, the primary schools in Sherborne were already working together before becoming a recognised PSTT cluster.

  • Enfield Cluster

    The original 3 large schools have worked together since 2014 as part of a Science Cluster.

  • STEM Exe-plorers Cluster

    With a core of 4 schools that have a history of collaboration, this existing network was originally extended to offer the opportunity to include a total of 6 local schools and began in 2017.

  • GLF Cluster

    The Glyn Foundation Academy chain is a group of non-selective schools including primary, junior and secondary schools which was founded in 2012.

Offering significant opportunities to the schools and communities, the cluster has been formed to develop science teaching and learning, subject leadership and raise the profile of science.

A PSTT Cluster Network in North Tyneside.
A group of eight schools who are all part of the North Tyneside Learning Trust (a network of over 40 schools), joined together under the coordination of PSTT Fellow, Anna Hammill to become a PSTT Cluster. Set up to develop their own science teaching and develop new PSTT Fellows from within, the group also aims to work in collaboration to benefit other schools and its locality. Increase the skills and confidences of all the SSL so that they are able to confidently lead training within their own school and beyond. Increase the use of PSTT resources for the schools in North Tyneside. Ensure that they are aware of them, know how to use them, look at how they could fit it in to their current long-term plans and go back and train the relevant staff in using it. Increase the amount of outstanding teaching and learning in Science within North Tyneside schools through the increased development of the SSL role and therefore the ability to lead and move on their subject. Increase the relevance and frequency of good quality CPD for SSL within the North Tyneside area. This increase in CPD would be on a needs basis and therefore be of relevance to the SSL in the cluster. They would be going away knowing that they were confident in implementing the change within their own school and have brainstormed ideas with 7 other schools in the area that they can call on for support.

Following the retirement of Helen, the cluster has transitioned to being run from within the group and coordinated by Janice Walls, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. Originally 9 schools, the group has grown to include an additional member, Mudeford Infant Community school.

Following a successful PSTT conference / INSET day involving all 110 teachers who attended four workshops (Using microscopes, Let’s Go Science Trails, Chain Reaction and “I can explain!”), this cluster was formed in 2017. Consisting of 8 members and good collaboration with a local college, the schools already worked as clusters for English and Maths where the focus had been moderation in the last few years. They were keen to expand this cross-school collaboration to other curriculum areas, particularly science, because it is a core subject.

Through the support of Katrina Halford, a PSTT College Fellow, the primary schools in Sherborne were already working together before becoming a recognised PSTT cluster. Following a successful transition from being co-ordinated by a Fellow, the cluster is now self- run from within the group and supported by the PSTT. Originally 8 schools, the group has grown to include an additional local school and is co-ordinated by Abbey CE VC Primary School in Sherborne.

The Glyn Foundation Academy chain is a group of non-selective schools including primary, junior and secondary schools which was founded in 2012. To date, there are 30 schools in the academy group, all of which aspire to deliver an outstanding education to their pupils. Part of this aspiration is to provide the very best primary science teaching. The PSTT Cluster, formed of 10 GLF primary schools, enable these to achieve a proactive, dynamic and well-resourced network of science leaders who are committed to improving the profile and teaching of science in their schools – and who have the support, knowledge and skills to do so. Distinguished by its many links and influence in a larger group of schools, this Cluster illustrates the benefits of networks and collaboration.
