Peter Sainsbury has been a Fellow of the Primary Science Teaching Trust since 2010. Teaching in a wide variety of schools, Middle, Junior and Primary (Key Stage 1 and 2), school leadership and the classroom have taken equal place. Peter has twice held Deputy and Acting Headships as well as being a Governor of several schools. He is a member of the Association for the Study of Primary Education (ASPE), National Executive and a member of the Royal Microscopical Society, Outreach and Education. Incorporating his interest in succession leadership and science, he has set up and led a number of Deputy Head groups and a science cluster network in the Salisbury area.
In 2011, Peter was awarded the Teacher of Primary Science by the Institute of Physics. He runs workshops for teachers and children and has written articles for publications including Primary Science, In Focus and the School Science Review. Whilst the majority of Peter’s role is now for the Trust as the Cluster Advisor, he continues to be a classroom practitioner working part time at Winterbourne Earls CE Primary school.
