Debbie Jones is an Area Mentor for the Primary Science Teaching Trust and during her time as Science Leader at Four Oaks Primary School she established the successful Four Oaks Cluster, Sutton Coldfield. Debbie originally worked in Secondary schools as a Home Economist and made the change to Primary education while living in West Berlin and Gibraltar.
She is passionate about Primary Science and has inspired her colleagues to become more confident when working scientifically. Through Debbie’s leadership and collaboration with pro-active colleagues, she has led her school through two Primary Science Quality Mark awards - achieving gold each time!
Passionate about science in primary schools, Debbie gained her Primary Science Teacher Award in 2012 and reveled in the Professional Development opportunities that the Trust offered; these she shared with her colleagues in her school and the Four Oaks Cluster. She enjoys the chance to continue to share her expertise.
Debbie retired from full time teaching in July 2015 and welcomed the opportunity to work for the PSTT as an Area Mentor for the Midlands and become involved with some of the Trust’s projects. She says, ‘It is an amazing opportunity to continue to work scientifically alongside a fantastic group of supportive colleagues, to support teachers and to spread the good work of the Trust!’
Debbie is also a PSQM Hub Leader. Now she feels she has the best of both worlds - a new group of colleagues, still lots of science, more time to garden, dog walk and indulge in dressmaking!
