Two new members join our Trustee board

We are delighted to announce the appointments of IAN DORMER CBE, CDIR, HONFIOD, BA (HONS) and Professor Michael Reiss as new members of the PSTT Board of Trustees.

For nearly 30 years Ian Dormer has been Managing Director of Rosh Engineering Ltd. One of the largest privately-owned and independent high voltage engineering contractors based in the UK.
Ian is a member of the Institute of Directors, and was appointed national Chairman in 2012 for a 3 year term. In 2013, Ian qualified as a Chartered Director, and he regularly contributes to the Institute of Directors professional development courses.

Ian has held a number of Non-Executive Director roles ranging from the Board of Regional Development Agency, ONE North East, through to Chairing Business Link Tyne & Wear. He was on the Board of City Development Company 1NG through to Chairing Enterprise Development NE which handled a £125 million European Venture Capital fund.

His passion for education has lead him to become a Trustee for the Comprehensive School (now Academy) that he once attended, and to becoming the Chairman of Newcastle College.

He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in Her Majesty the Queen’s 2016 New Year Honours list.

Michael Reiss is Professor of Science Education at UCL Institute of Education, Visiting Professor at the Universities of Kiel and York and the Royal Veterinary College, Honorary Fellow of the British Science Association and of the College of Teachers, Docent at the University of Helsinki and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. A former Director of Education at the Royal Society, he is also a Priest in the Church of England and President of the International Society for Science and Religion. His research and consultancy interests are in science education, bioethics and sex education.
