Primary Science Teacher Awards 2015
Primary Science Teaching Trust has sponsored the Primary Science Teacher Awards since 2003. In addition a special award is made each year recognising the achievements of a teacher working in challenging circumstances. A number of awards have been further endorsed by Learned Societies (namely the Institute of Physics, Royal Meteorological Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, Society of Biology and The Geological Society) and others (SHINE Trust, National Science Learning Network, Ogden Trust, The Comino Foundation), who recognise the achievements of teachers working in these particular areas of science.
A Primary Science Teacher Award recognises innovative and creative work that contributes to science development in school and engages children in the excitement and wonder of science. They are open to full-time and part-time primary school teachers.
Each winner receives £500 for their school and £1,000 for themselves – plus a certificate.
Recognising outstanding Primary Science Teachers is very important to the Trust, as all winners automatically become Fellows of the Primary Science Teacher College. The College enables these excellent teachers to develop new projects, undertake professional development and to disseminate best practice from their own teaching and that from the Trust funded work.
Nominating a teacher is easy. Details for the 2016 awards will be posted in due course.
