The Primary Science Teaching Trust announce the appointment of Chief Executive Officer
The Board of the Primary Science Teaching Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Pollard as Chief Executive Officer. Martin will succeed Professor Dudley Shallcross and is expected to take up the CEO post at the beginning of 2022.
Martin said: "I’m delighted to join PSTT and to lead its vital work in promoting excellence in primary science education. Now more than ever, we are all aware of how important it is to inspire our next generation of scientists and researchers. It will be a privilege to build on the great legacy of Dudley Shallcross, alongside PSTT’s talented staff team.”
Fred Young, PSTT’s Chair, said: "Martin is a seasoned, well-respected and proven Chief Executive with an exceptional record. In his current role at the Learned Society of Wales, he has delivered substantial strategic and operational progress. The Board believes that Martin is a great fit for PSTT and look forward to welcoming him to the Trust in January 2022.
The Board would also like to take the opportunity to thank Dudley Shallcross for his outstanding contribution to PSTT over many years, and particularly for his decisive leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic. We wish him all the best in his future role.
On a personal note, as Chair of the Board, I would like to take this opportunity to say how much I have valued Dudley’s dedication, vision and leadership. I have greatly enjoyed working with him and I know that this experience has been shared by Trustees and staff alike. We will miss Dudley but he leaves PSTT in a very strong position and we sincerely thank him for that.”
