The south milford cluster
A PSTT Cluster Network in Leeds
OVERVIEW
Founded upon the existing relationships within the newly formed Star Multi Academy Trust, the nine schools involved with the PSTT aim to further their work through setting up a science cluster. The proactive groundwork by an independently based Fellow and the engagement of the schools have prepared the cluster for an exciting future together.
Cluster Lead: Bryony Turford

VISION
Our Vision:
- A High quality and well-equipped primary science curriculum being delivered that is fit for purpose for all our children in all our schools - our children will see science as an engaging and relevant part of their school lives and their future.
- Empowered, knowledgeable and effective leaders of science - school leaders are supported by effective middle leaders thus growing the leadership capacity of the schools
- A future proofed cluster able to support its own development. The cluster will self-propagate and support turnover of staff. Strong teaching in the classrooms beyond of the cluster members in base schools will enable a pool of prospective leader in waiting. This may include identification of nominees for PSTAs.
Our Aims:
- Development of the science curriculum and resource support (including PSTT resources)
- All schools (which have not already done so) strongly encouraged and supported to undertake PSQM at some point during the life of the cluster
- Subject leadership development - knowledge and skills to develop others and monitor impact. This will start with an audit of skills, knowledge, interest and capacity (use of PSQM & ASE tools where appropriate and drawing on Bryony’s experience to develop in other ways)
- Working scientifically and enquiry led approach to all science lessons (It's not Fair or Is It? As a starting point)
- Class teacher subject knowledge development (curriculum focussed)
- Support for reliable formative, summative and statutory assessment for science (including TAPS and PLAN)
