The Bolton cluster

A PSTT Cluster Network in Chorley, Lancashire


The Bolton Cluster is a network involving nine schools. Originally instigated by the PSTT Fellow and local Headteachers, the cluster has been formed with the central aims of empowering others and using in-house expertise to develop individuals and build a collaborative network.

Our Vision:

All schools within the cluster have expressed a need to improve the quality of science teaching and learning. Over five years the needs are likely to change. An initial survey of needs will be carried out so that support can be targeted. Bi-annual evaluation to re-evaluate needs. Finding out the strengths of the group and developing these further. Empowering staff to lead in their areas of strength whilst developing each other’s weaknesses. To offer a model in good teaching of pupils and presenting relevant CPD. Keeping SSLs up to date with science news. Assessing intent, implementation and impact of the current science curricula. Addressing areas of difficulty together. The PSQM programme will be introduced. All staff from all schools to receive CPD with impact clearly identified.
