Supporting Physics Teaching
The Primary Science Teaching Trust and Institute of Physics primary physics project has produced a web accessible resource aimed at improving the confidence and competence of teachers and their supporters in working with the physics aspect of primary science.
These resources can be used to develop primary teachers' subject knowledge in electricity, motion and forces, and light and sound.
The pedagogic content knowledge is represented as three parallel strands:
- Physics Narrative (PN), telling the physics stories in an intelligible and fruitful way;
- Teaching and Learning Issues (TL), identifying the challenges and difficulties;
- Teaching Approaches (TA), providing activities, configured as a suggested sequence.
