Together We Learn was a 2 year continued professional development programme funded by the AstraZeneca Science Teaching Trust, involving 18 primary schools in developing Personal Capabilities at Key Stage 2.
The Personal Capabilities Programme, born in 1999, encourages opportunities for pupils to develop a range of generic personal skills and capabilities, such as teamwork, self management, creativity, communication, problem solving, tenacity and a positive self image. Teachers use different strategies to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the capabilities, which are then made explicit and infused into the teaching and learning of science and other subjects. Pupils actively self and peer review using verbal, visual and written forms of self and peer assessment.
